Screen Areas:
The Strategy Map Balanced Scorecard software has 6 modules.
Each has several screens, many of which are shared.
Almost every screen uses this Ribbon Tab interface and these screens have the tabs at the top which controls the data below.

4 Ribbons:
The Tab control area comprises four ribbons and each ribbon contains different information.
It is called a ribbon because it stretches the full width of the screen. When the screen size changes, the ribbon adjusts automatically.

Top Ribbon:
The top ribbon is in fact the common Window Header.
It contains the Name and Icon for each module as well as the name of the Licensed User.

Second Ribbon:
The next ribbon is the start of the actual Window data.
On the left it shows the currently selected Strategic Plan and this name changes when you change the Selected Plan in the tree.

On the right there is a general message area, when your mouse passes over a Ribbon Control (such as a button), a summary description is displayed in the message area.
Third Ribbon:
The third ribbon contains the actual tabs themselves.
These Tabs occupy the left side of the screen and frequently reach over half way.
On the right are the Text Zoom and pop-up Help buttons.
- In the Startup Module there is a multi-colored button which allows you to select the Office-2007 Visual style.
- Some modules also have a Save Data button here.

When you click on the Ribbon Tab, the Tab control groups change, and frequently the actual main screen data also changes.

Fourth Ribbon:
The fourth ribbon is the ribbon tab content area.
It is the job of the tabs to display different groups of controls.
Each Ribbon Group has a border plus a name.

When your mouse enters a Ribbon Control Group, the control group lights up.
When you mouse-over a button or other control, it displays the summary description in the message area.

Ribbon Contents:
The Ribbon Group can contain several different types of controls with the most common being…
- the Toggle Button and the Toggle Button Group
    - When a toggle button is ON it is highlighted with an orange color
- also the Screen Label and Text Box
- the Drop-Down list
- and the Slider Bar.

[change to tab Owner Logo]
- Here is a Ordinary Button which does not have a toggle facility,
- This one is another toggle button with Text

[change to the column filter]
- A checkbox Filter Grid.
The checkboxes enable or disable feature items such as the Chart Columns.

[change to the Series Filter]
- Or perhaps the series items.

In summary, the Office-2007 tabbed ribbon control allows us to keep all the screen controls up the top and the data below.
We can change the main screen whilst also displaying those groups of controls that are relevant.
